The only problem appears to be Google grossly underestimating the appeal of a $35 HDMI stick. Clearly Google and Netflix had a number in mind of how many Chromecasts they'd sell in the first month or so. Instead they hit it on day one. I wouldn't be surprised if Chromecast preorders are close to the total number of Google TV units sold so far.
That's true to a point; however, it's also handy to use Gruber as a barometer of how well Google is doing at unsettling Apple apologists. The more Gruber gets unhinged and snarky, the more successful Google is that week. ("Get your shit together" is about a 9/10 on the Gruber snark scale. He knows fully well that the quick expiration of the Chromecast/Netflix deal is a sign that the Chromecast is way more successful than either company anticipated. But he just can't bring himself to acknowledge it, so he resorts to unhinged snark.)
